I've talked before about Vitamin D being an important compound in the fight against cancer, but it doesn't stop there.
What would you think if I told you that Vitamin D is also necessary for another great fight?
Harvard researchers have looked at the Vitamin D levels in more than 18,000 men over the age of 40, and have found a clear link between Vitamin D deficiency and increased risk of heart attack. Even when adjusted for risk factors such as diabetes, high tryglyceride levels and a family history of heart attack the men with low to mid-range levels of Vitamin D were at higher risk compared to men with high levels. Make sure you are getting enough Vitamin D to keep you healthy, but remember that the balance of vitamins and minerals is very important.
The best source of Vitamin D is sunlight, but if you live in areas far north and south of the equator you can get your daily Vitamin D intake by taking a good quality supplement.
